Abstract :
We describe a method for multiple-order polarization mode dispersion (PMD) a compensation, whereby 1st-order differential group delay (DGD) and 2nd-order principal states of polarisation (PSP) rotation are jointly mitigated by an adaptive polarisation controller and variable arrayed waveguide gratings (AWG) time delay. Second-order DGD is treated by dynamic AWG chirp.
