Design specifications of time-domain spectral shaping optical system based on dispersion and temporal modulation

The design equations of a time-domain spectral shaping (TDSS) optical system (dispersion plus temporal modulation) are derived. These equations show that the amount of dispersion introduced at the input of a TDSS system must be sufficiently small to be able to resolve the fastest temporal feature of the modulation temporal waveform to be transferred to the spectral domain.
