Abstract
The cdma2000 high rate packet data standard, also known as IS-856, is a next generation solution to high-speed wireless Internet access. In this paper, we present an overview of the reverse link characteristics and its performance. In particular, we evaluate the capacity of the reverse link in both single cell and multi-cell, 3-sectored networks. Analytical expressions are derived to include the effect of practical antenna patterns on the reuse factor, f. Also, a novel approach to model sector load is considered in order to account for the effects of high data rate transmissions.
