Abstract :
An analytical procedure is introduced for obtaining relatively simple mathematical expressions suitable for estimating the values of transfer potential by long grounding electrodes of a high-voltage installation. The insufficient space between the main grounding grid and its neighboring segments of external electrodes decreases the ability of the individual electrodes to dissipate fault current into the ground. The proximity effect is manifested by an increase in the total impedance of the grounding system. It also has an effect on the relative potential distribution along the external electrodes, which can increase the potentials. This problem is treated, and analytical expressions are given that enable this effect to be considered in calculations for such systems.
