  • Abstract
    Magnetic hysteresis of mixtures of hematite (/spl alpha/-Fe/sub 2/O/sub 3/) and magnetite (Fe/sub 3/O/sub 4/) particles dispersed in diamagnetic NaCl are examined. Introducing a residual hysteresis curve it is shown that the overall hysteresis loop of bi-mineral mixture does not represent a simple sum of contributions corresponding to individual components, but is affected by interactions between magnetite and hematite grains.
