Abstract
The paper presents an evaluation of the THD characteristics of the synmetrical and simple phase detectors, using exponential models of the detectors. By developing the output expressions into a series with Bessel-function coefficients, it is shown that, under certain conditions, the convergence is obtained. This approach results in relating the THD characteristics to other relevant electrical parameters of the circuits. Finally, a comparison is made between the simple and symmetrical detector with respect to their distortion characteristics.
