Abstract
Two simulation methods for a VHF-FM transmission system are compared. The two methods differ in the choice of the frequency band where the spectrum of a simulated signal is located. Accordingly, the so-called baseband method and the 57-kHz subcarrier frequency model were considered. The transmission system is modeled up to the receiver input, taking into consideration various propagation phenomena. Both the resolution and the computing time of the two approaches are evaluated and compared. At several points on the modeled system, actual wave shapes and corresponding spectra are examined. The simulation was performed modularly using the Turbo Pascal programming language.
