Abstract
A new technique for measurement-based feedback control of the phases and amplitudes of electromagnetic phased-arrays for hyperthermia is developed and its effectiveness demonstrated in simulations. The technique incorporates measurement data as it becomes available in real-time into a parametric model of the electromagnetic and thermal physics of the temperature evolution. This model is then used in an optimization procedure to determine the best phases and amplitudes of the phased-array. A key feature of this technique is that it is temperature-based, optimizing a quantity which more closely correlates with clinical outcome than does, for example, specific absorption rate (SAR).
