Abstract
A method for numerical calculation of the inductance matrix in electrical machines is proposed. It is based on the calculation of magnetic field distribution, which is obtained from a bidimensional solution of the Poisson equation by the finite-element method using a triangular mesh. The mesh is generated by an efficient semiautomatic method. The inductance matrix is calculated for linear and nonlinear cases. The values of inductances are inserted into the equations governing performance of electrical machines, which are solved by the Runge-Kutta method. The method is illustrated for a three-phase four-pole reluctance motor.
