Abstract :
This study compared the intrinsic and reflex torques generated in response to position perturbations in tibialis anterior (TA) and gastrocnemius (GS) ankle muscles. Pulse, step, and a combination of random perturbation and step inputs were used to identify the reflex and intrinsic contributions to the measured torque. TA reflex torques were very small whereas GS reflex torques were substantial.
