Abstract
A differential compass (composed of tachometers in ABS) instead of a rate gyro has been adopted for direction navigation information of vehicles in this paper. The system/observation equation of the vehicular dead reckoning (DR) system with a differential compass (DC) is established and the navigation algorithm based on a two-steps adaptive kalman filter is constructed to obtain the dynamic parameters of vehicle for real-time navigation. The field running experiment shows that satisfactory accuracy is achieved by the DR navigation system with DC and its navigation algorithm proposed in this paper.
