Abstract

A video indexing system has two distinct subsystems: the library creation system and the library exploration client system. This paper introduces these two subsystems of the news video indexing system. It can not only segment the news video sequence into news stories automatically but also extract the video abstract and textual abstract for each news story automatically. In addition, this system supports the keyword-based news story indexing and retrieval, which is extracted from the captions graphically superimposed in the video frames.
