Abstract :
The paper analyzes the drawbacks of the fieldbus and presents the necessity for research on Ethernet in industrial applications. At the same, it introduces the process and characteristics of Ethernet communication, especially focusing on the nondeterministic delay of communication and presents a concrete analysis. Furthermore, switch Ethernet, flow control, traffic priority are described in detail and their influences on real-time capacity of Ethernet are analyzed. Finally, some problems are proposed, such as how to improve the real-time capacity of Ethernet using new technology, how to meet the real-time requirement of application objects adopting the optimized scheduling algorithm and how to establish the proper evaluation system for Ethernet in industrial applications.
