Abstract :
An E-field probe with small outer dimensions (5×5×5 mm3) is presented. It has all optical interconnections to minimize the field disturbance and employs a VCSEL (vertical cavity surface emitting laser) for transmitting the signal to the remote unit. The sensitivity is about 50 μV·m-1·Hz-12/ (noise equivalent field strength) in aqueous media at 100 MHz, yielding a dynamic range of 130 dB (1 Hz measurement bandwidth).
