Abstract
Among the advantages of active magnetic bearings, the absence of contact, the lifetime and the safety (failure detection) can be put forward. This paper presents a new algorithm for unbalance control for active magnetic bearings applications. Contrary to other methods, this new algorithm can work on the whole range of rotational speed while preserving the stability. A systematic tuning approach based on a global model has been developed and is presented here. This algorithm has been implemented on various applications. An example of application on an air compressor is presented here.
