Abstract :
Multiple-antenna systems allows us to obtain very high capacity so they are considered as an adequate candidate for 4th Generation WLAN (4GWLANs). In the last few years much work has dealt with multiple-antenna systems starting from the seminal work in Alamouti (2000). This technology allows us to obtain a very low bit error rate requiring, at the same time, low SNR. Many papers make reference to two opposite situations in which they consider perfect channel state information (CSI) and no channel state information. In this contribution, by utilizing a water-filling approach and the results already found in Baccarelli et al. (2002), we evaluate the multiple-antenna system throughput for partially coherent detection and we compare the results with the perfect CSI solution and the no CSI one.
