Abstract
This paper presents a method to avoid pilot subcarrier insertion for uplink MC-CDMA system channel estimation in order to increase both spectral efficiency and power efficiency. Based on the reciprocity property of the channel, the proposed technique consists in using the downlink channel estimation to pre-distort the signal at the mobile station before transmission in order to offset the degradations introduced by the uplink channel. Simulation results are given for time division duplex (TDD) mode and a first analysis is presented for frequency division duplex (FDD) mode.
