Abstract
The use of alternating current (AC) drives in the metals industry has greatly increased in the last 15 years. This increase appears to be the result of increasing features of drives, more reliable motors and electronics, smaller cost efficient packages, and end user education on applying AC drives. In this paper, this increased use is presented from experiences of the authors and data gathered from coworkers.
