Abstract
The development of substation automation systems requires significant engineering efforts related to the architecture of the substation and the communications system, as well as the configuration of numerous intelligent electronic devices and communications equipment. The need for formalized format that allows the description of the different elements and their relationships In such a system leads to the definition of a substation configuration language and the selection of XML as the file format.
