Abstract :
This paper presents a novel methodology for the development of generator voltage schedules. The need to provide voltage/reactive support for bulk power transfer has received much attention in recent years. Also, contingencies have occurred in recent years which have alerted utilities to pay more attention to reactive planning. Most commonly, static capacitor are used to provide reactive support. However, the fact that generator voltage scheduling should play a more important role has been neglected. This paper discusses the benefits of holding optimized voltage schedules for generators. The use of load data for developing voltage schedules makes the process easier and more straightforward.
