Abstract :
The goal of this paper is to clarify the influence of pleasant and unpleasant feelings on human gesture motion. A gesture motion is a kind of nonverbal message and plays an important role in communication between humans. Gestures may also be effective for smooth communication between humans and robots. To clarify the influence of pleasant and unpleasant feelings on gesture motion, we analyze the human right arm motion of four gestures (handshake, applause, goodbye and the triumphant fist pose). As a result of this analysis, it was shown that such feelings affected the height of the hand, frequency of applause, and so on. Finally, we propose an algorithm outline for gesture motions which takes pleasant and unpleasant feelings into account.
