Abstract :
This paper presents TDD/TDMA packet transmission strategies developed for use on a cellular packet communications network. We use unique resource allocation strategies between uplink and downlink, paying particular attention to the downlink, which has received little research attention thus far. On the uplink fixed reservation techniques are used for both voice and data traffic, whilst on the downlink an "ad-hoc" reservation technique is used for data traffic. An OPNET based simulation model is used to analyse the performance of the proposed packet transmission strategies.
