Abstract :
The aim of the paper is to present the appearance and existence of the self-modulation phenomenon, based on resonant jumps, in systems described by the Duffing-type equation having an inertial damping. The necessary conditions for the jump production and for the appearance of the self-modulation phenomenon are emphasised. The results are obtained through numerical simulation. The resonance curves for different damping values are presented. For a given excitation signal, the modulation of the output signal amplitude and phase are emphasised.
