Abstract :
Summary form only given. The paper considers the modelling of digital transmissions over MIMO channels. It is demonstrated that a generalization from scalar signals, sequences and systems to their vector counterparts is an appropriate way to include all aspects. Such vector-valued transmissions include systems with spread spectrum, e.g. CDM/CDMA, as well as conventional techniques based on FDM/TDM. Also subchannel transmission schemes like OFDM are included, and hybrids like MC-CDMA, and the inherent possibility of using the spatial dimension for beamforming, STC and spatially parallel transmission (BLAST). After the derivation of the vector-valued transmission model, examples are given. Parts of this contribution are based on Lindner (1999).
