  • Abstract
In this work a hearing aid based on frequency transposing is presented. It aims to take advantage from the residual low frequency sensitivity in age-related hearing loss cases. Moreover, it has been reported that the use of excessive amplification could induce a degenerative process in the auditory system. Frequency transposing is carried out using a frequency dividing method. The aid is intended for voice applications. Thus, audio signal is amplified under a compression process and filtered in 300-3400 Hz range. The audio signal processing was preliminarily performed using Matlab for adjusting and evaluating and the digital part of the aid was finally implemented using a Digital Signal Processor.
