Abstract
The synchronous generator is decomposed to two lower order systems with different time scales using the singular perturbation method. A suboptimal controller is designed for each subsystem using the second order sliding mode such that chattering in the output can be eliminated and the free-chattering composite control for the uncertain complex system can be realized. Simulated examples are included to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
