Abstract :
The paper proposes a conservative, technically rigorous, and time-effective procedure for in situ testing of compliance with radio frequency electromagnetic field (EMF) safety limits. The method employs the maximum hold hand-held sweeping technique, i.e., maximum search. The procedure is based and supported by numerical findings of the absorption characteristics of the human body in scattered EMF environments. The equipment requirements are also discussed. We evaluated the applicability and estimated the uncertainty of the method by an interlaboratory comparison with trained and untrained measurement personnel.
