Abstract :
An RTU (receiver test unit) for Koreasat digital DBS system was implemented. It consists of a 45 cm antenna, LNB, set-top-box, smartcard and remote-controller. The set-top-box was implemented with commercial hardware devices for DVB and MPEG based processing. Various external interfaces are used for testing Koreasat digital DBS signal. A task-based software was adopted for flexibility to add/remove more functions. 12 software tasks communicate with each other by passing mail messages with pre-defined formats on a real time multi-tasking OS.
