Abstract :
Narrow Vdc (NVDC) power architecture is one of initiatives to extend battery life in mobile computing system. Advantages and application limit of it are analyzed for two generations NVDC architectures in detail. All design considerations for such possible concerns as charger controller selection, precharge issue, thermal stress, and energy star compliance related are presented, and solutions to some concerns are also provided in this paper. Finally, tests are conducted in a typical notebook system to verify all theoretical analysis and proposed solutions to those concerns.
