Abstract :
The fast filter bank (FFB) is a single-rate filter bank based on the frequency response masking technique and has very sparse filter coefficients. As a result, it has very low computational complexity. However, the output of the filter bank is complex. In this paper, a method is proposed to reduce the FFB, if the input and output signals are real. This involves complex modulation at selected nodes throughout the filter bank. The overall savings achieved are substantial.
