Abstract :
Summary form only given. Following Shen (1997), we report on the demonstration of accessible solitons in pre-oriented nematic liquid crystals. We show how the (temporally and) spatially nonlocal nonlinearity mediates soliton formation and soliton-soliton attraction, fusion and interlacing of both excitation and signal light. Moreover, we introduce a novel and general model which unifies local and nonlocal solitary behavior with the aid of coupled differential equations.
