Abstract
The authors have developed a unity power factor sinusoidal current input induction cooker having an input side filter for conducted EMI noise. This work proposes that the conducted EMI for the type of power electronics equipment considered here can be easily identified by making EMI current measurements on the system by eliminating the earth wire. A filter design based on this assumption is made and its results are compared with a filter designed using conventional noise separation technique. It is found that the proposed approach simplifies the measurements and the design process and permits quick design of the filter in the development stage.
