Abstract :
A parametric study of an offset fed thick dipole excited by a biconical feed section is performed in this paper. Modeling results are obtained using Ansoft´s High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) and the Numerical Electromagnetics Code (NEC). It is desired that the dipole has a 10:1 bandwidth performance with return loss better than 10 dB and stable pattern of over /spl plusmn/10/spl deg/ off broadside. It is shown that the dipole with the feed location at 34% of the total length has the best performance. Good agreement with measurements is obtained.
