Abstract :
This paper deals with a comparative preview of traditional "paper and pencil" tests and computer based tests through both didactical principles and psychological factors. Special accent was put to the adaptive tests. The goal of this paper is to bring this side to foreground, next to the technological aspects, which have been mostly forced. It has been found that the computer tests have more controlled environment, but that the benefits are not taken for granted -the system must be chosen and used considering complex requirements.
