Abstract :
Summary form only given. The mode conversion and the resonant absorption of electromagnetic waves occurring in inhomogeneous chiral media are studied theoretically. The resonant absorption is found to occur when the inhomogeneous medium contains a region where the effective refractive index vanishes.
