Abstract
In this study a novel active suspension system concept is investigated. A 6 DOF model is obtained for a half vehicle system by using Lagrange method. The proposed active suspension system is designed and applied on this half vehicle model. The modeling of both the vehicle system and the proposed controller is explained. The proposed controller is also compared with a classical PID controller in order to quantify the performance improvement. Additionally the energy consumption of the compared controllers are investigated. Finally an active suspension system is designed that requires measuring only the displacement of the front wheel in order to maintain both whole body suspension of the vehicle and suspension of the acceleration on the driver-passenger.
