Abstract :
Design of a high frequency, high power capacitor will be described for use in a vacuum space environment. The capacitor will operate at 600 V ac with a 600 V dc bias, at up to 400 kHz, a power level of 75 kVAR and a current level of 125 A rms. Careful choice of capacitor materials along with design of capacitive elements, conductor/element assembly and capacitor case was necessary to accomplish this task. A matrix elimination process of choosing capacitor film type and impregnant will be outlined.
