Abstract :
In this paper, we propose a new approach to build the background image which is the first step for the detection and identification of moving objects in a video. This approach is of global type and proceeds to split the video images into regions. The criterion of entropy minimization over time is adopted to ensure if the considered region would participate in the composition of the background image. Many experiments demonstrate the utility and performance of this approach.
