Abstract
This paper addresses one of the important dilemmas in engineering education: how to educate engineering students in the area of systems thinking or systems approach. A framework is presented in which the authors describe how the systems-oriented topics can be integrated into an engineering program to enable students to design "messy" socio-technical systems from a systems point of view.
