Abstract :
Summary form only given. Over the past several years there have been a number of changes in the accreditation of computing programs . The largest changes have been: (1) moving the accreditation of Computer Science (CS) programs from the Computing Sciences Accreditation Board (CSAB) to the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), (2) implementation of Criteria 2000 for Computer Science programs, with a heavier emphasis on assessment, (3) beginning the accreditation of Information Systems programs, (4) activity in the area of accreditation of Information Technology programs, and (5) the change of CSAB to CSAB, Inc with changes in its mission and function. But change continues, which is not surprising for this dynamic field. On the horizon is the possibility of accreditation of programs in Information Technology (IT).
