Abstract :
High-quality Nd:GdVO4 crystals were successfully grown by the floating zone method. Large absorption coefficients and wide linewidths at 808 nm and 879 nm were obtained. Excellent laser performance with slope efficiency of 72% was achieved with pumping at 808 nm. We also realized the efficient and low thermal-road pumping at 879 nm with slope efficiency of 57%.
