Abstract :
In this paper, we show the numerical results of return loss characteristics of fibre physical contact (FPC) connector in order to discuss its ultra-low reflection. In the numerical analyses, the stress in the fibre due to the buckling force of the FPC connector is considered, and we define the distribution of refractive indices because of the stress in the fibre. The results show over 70 dB return loss due to the distribution of the refractive index around the fibre endface. Since the numerical results shows the similar characteristics to the experimental results, we can conclude that our numerical approach is effective to the analysis of FPC connector.
