Abstract

This paper analyses, by means of a real implementation, the ability of Profibus to transport images, analyzing its repercussion on the periodic traffic of control, and the measures concerning MAC (medium access control) that can be taken in order to minimize this incidence while optimizing image transportation. The paper focuses on image transport for control applications, an aspect that presents a different problem from monitoring applications, and which the authors are analyzing in another project.
