Abstract
The non-minimum-phase behavior of a seismic recording can be removed partly by suitably slimming the auto-correlation function of the vibrator´s exciting signal when the composite motional system´s impulse response interval length as counted up to the points of noticeable relative magnitude is great as compared with the main-lobe width of the exciting signal´s auto-correlation function. The slimming operation is implemented by passing the seismic recording through a slimming filter effected by a computer. Slimming filters can be designed by using optimization procedures with object functions of various subjectively chosen weight functions and also by applying the Widrow-Hoff adaptation algorithm to approximate the slimming function. The improvement effect of such a kind of partial removal of the non-minimum-phase behavior from the field data on the outcome of deconvolvers will be given elsewhere.
