Abstract
The idea of using adaptive digital filters for phase compensation was recently introduced [1]. This paper presents new methods of comparing various adaptive algorithms used for phase compensation with emphasis on a fast sequential regression algorithm [2]. Performance of algorithms is based upon overall linearity of the final phase response and on the ability of the adaptive digital filter to maintain the desired magnitude response. Previous comparisons have been based only upon the error output of the adaptive digital filter [3]. These new comparison techniques give the system designer better information to use in choosing the correct algorithm for a specific application [4].
