Recovery of gray scale images from approximations of their contours

Data Compaction may be achieved by representing an image by its contours for many classes of images, and regenerating the image using the contours and a texture generation rule, this paper looks at further compaction that may be obtained by representing the contour by its polygonal approximation with very little extra loss of information.
