Abstract :
In Japan, retail competition has started for the large customers (about 30% of the total consumption) since March 2000 and the direction of the next deregulation scheme is under discussion among the concerned parties. In this presentation, the experiences so far acquired and the technical aspects for the next deregulation step are discussed, while focusing on peculiarities in the Japanese electricity supply system.
