Abstract
This paper presents a method of splitting signals from fast and slow axes of polarization maintaining fibers by using a polarization splitter. It analyzes the relationship of the electrical power spectrum versus differential group delay and relative angles between the axis of a fiber and the direction of a polarization splitter. Primary experiments are made with the presented scheme, which has the potential of developing as a method of solving the polarization mode dispersion (PMD) problem.
