Abstract :
The modern tactical networks are characterized by high users mobility and their permanent availability. It forces full wireless communication solutions implementation in the above-mentioned networks. Wire-oriented tactical network will be replaced by the wireless component, in the near future. The network layer integration will be realized based on the IPv6 protocol stack. The mobility management in IPv6 networks is one of the main issues investigated in man-v research and development centers. This paper concerns the basic questions of mobility management in the tactical intranet network. The requirements for tactical IPv6 network as well as the analysis of the existing commercial of the shelf (COTS) mobility management solutions are presented here. Besides, the micro and macro mobility management is also considered.
