Abstract
We propose the Request-to-send/Object-to-send/carrier-Sensing/Agree-to-send (ROSA) protocol for heterogeneous ad hoc wireless networks, where different wireless devices may have different maximum transmission radii and a wireless device may use different radii when desired. ROSA can solve a variety of important problems in ad hoc mobile wireless networks, including the hidden terminal problem, the exposed terminal problem, the moving terminal problem, and the heterogeneous terminal problem.
